Ice Beach, Iceland, 2014
Hi, I'm James Barcelona, a film photographer.
It's an odd choice to still shoot film in the age of digital, but here are some pros & cons for you:
Cons:
Pros:
I am also the author of The Betrayers (2018), a free to download, photo book about betrayal and friendship on social media. I also created the zine, Is Anything Real Anymore?, a photographic tone poem and meditation on reality covering different states and cities in the US. It's available from my online store. I am also first photographer to have led and organized over 30+ photowalks for different brands and organizations in a single year (2013). I am also the first photographer to bring a strong Heideggerian approach to photography. In 2013, I was an ArtPadSF exhibitor for a black and white photo of Pier 14 called The Sentinel.
In November of 2014, I hiked around Iceland to focus on landscape photography.
In 2015, I worked on a series of street photographs, The San Franciscans. It is a study of innocence cast adrift in a selfish, self-obsessed society where lives can be thrown away without a backward glance ... and any notions of friendship and loyalty are meaningless.
I created #HiddenPostcardSF an Interactive and In Real Life game where I hide photographs in San Francisco and provide clues on where to find them on Instagram and Snapchat.
I am available for travel, lifestyle, and landscape photography. Inquire for rates.
